China launches 'passport' system for humanoid robots

China launches 'passport' system for humanoid robots
China is launching a digital identification system for humanoid robots. Each AI bipedal robot produced in the country will receive a unique code to track it throughout its life cycle. The new initiative was announced by state television CCTV, the South China Morning Post reports. The project is called Humanoid Full Lifecycle Management Service Platform. The system will track robots from production to disposal. Chinese authorities say it will help standardise the industry and strengthen risk control in the field of humanoid robotics. The programme is overseen by the Humanoid Robotics and Embodied Intelligence Standardisation Committee under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Along with the launch of the platform, China has also published new rules for managing the "life cycle" of humanoid robots and instructions for the use of digital IDs. The new requirements will apply to all market participants, including manufacturers, sellers, service companies, users, and equipment recycling companies. China is actively increasing its investments in humanoid robotics and AI. Earlier, the country has already begun to create special centres for training robots to work in factories, shops and services.
